Hobie 33 North American Championship

NOTICE OF RACE:

The Hobie 33 Class is the Organizing Authority for this regatta in cooperation with the Cedar Mills Marina, Mauri Pro Sailing and members of the Cedar Mills Yacht Club. This is an official Hobie 33 Class sanctioned event.

1. Rules

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing(RRS). This is a Category C Advertising (see RRS 76.1 and 79), participants are urged to refrain from displaying advertisements for businesses or products competing with those of the primary and support sponsors of the event.

1.2 The Sailing Instructions may include a provision for arbitration of protests involving rules of Part 2 of the RRS and not more then two boats. This will change RRS 60.1(b), 63.1, 63.6, and 66.


2. Eligibility

2.1. The regatta is open to all Hobie 33 class legal sailboats. This is a Hobie 33 - One Design regatta.


3. Entries

3.1 All entries must be submitted before Oct. 1st., 2005. Late entries will be received up to Oct. 20, 2005

3.2 Entry Fee: $150.00 / Late entry Fee: $175.00

3.3 Food (4 breakfast and 4 dinners for only $90 per crew member)

3.4 Saturday Party: $10 per person. Live Band

3.5 Lunch Bags: There will be available at the Marina restaurant: $10 per person.


4. Registration

Each boat owner or his representative must report to the Cedar Mills Yacht Club, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 20th. to complete registration details. The skippers' meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m on Thursday, October 20th., at the Cedar Mills Yacht Club.

Proof of boat insure must be provided at registration.

Sailing instructions will be available at Registration. Amendments to the Sailing Instructions will be posted at official board at Cedar Mills Yacht Club.


5. Racing Areas

Racing areas will be in Lake Texoma. There will be two racing areas: a) North of the Marina or b) East of the Marina.


6. Schedule of Races:

The first warning signal is scheduled for 10:00 each day. There will be no warning signal after 13:00 on Sunday. The race committee intends to run as many races as practical each day.

A total of 10 races are schedule.


7. Courses

Courses will be windward/leeward of approximately 1.2 miles.


8. Measurement/Weigh-in

8.1 The maximum crew weight for this event will 1260 lbs.
Weight in will be conducted before registration.

8.2 If a crew change is required due to injury or other circumstances the total crew weight shall not be less than the original weight and not more than 75 lbs. over original weight.

8.3 Sail Measure: Sail measurements will be require for all participants. As per class rules the organization will measure the following:

Mainsail: Class rules 14 C, 14 D and 14 F
Spinnakers: Class Rule 17 C (The length of the leeches shall not be more than 36.625')


9. Motor Size & Weight

Engines must remain in back of the boat. The class minimum weight to be carried in the engine space is 100lbs. This weight can be made up of the engine, engine collar, fuel tank, fuel, etc.

10. Scoring

The Low-Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply. Each boat's series score will be the sum of her scores for all races if only six races are completed. One throw-out is allowed if 7 or more races are completed. 3 races will constitute a regatta.


11. Prizes

11.1 There will be trophies for the top 3 boats.


12. Berthing

12.1 Boats may be moored at the Cedar Mills Marina, October 19-24, free of charge. Boats wishing to arrive earlier or depart later, should contact Juan Mauri at 817-426-5625.

12.2 Once launched, boats shall not be hauled out for the duration of the regatta without written permission from the Organizing Authority.

13. Launching

A ramp is available to launch all boats. Boats requiring a hoist will need to contact Juan Mauri before OCt. 1st. 2005


13. Photographers and TV Rights

Competitors give absolute right and permission for any photographs or video footage taken of themselves or their competing boat to be published in any media whatsoever; for either editorial or advertising purposes, or to be used in press information.
