Hobie 33 North American Championship to be held October 20-23, 2005

Denton, Texas—October 5, 2005: The Hobie 33 North American Championship will be held at Lake Texoma on October 20-23, 2005. The Hobie 33 Class, in cooperation with Cedar Mills Marina, Mauri Pro Sailing, Cedar Mills Yacht Club, is coordinating this officially sanctioned one-design event.

“This is the premier event of the year for Hobie 33 racers,” stated race coordinator and owner of Mauri Pro Sailing, Juan Mauri. “With some of the best Hobie 33 sailors from the United States, Canada, Germany, Peru, and Venezuela racing, we expect this international event to be very competitive and exciting.”

The regatta will be fleet racing between Hobie 33 class legal sailboats owned and skippered by members of the Hobie 33 Class Association. Ten races on approximate 1.2 mile courses outside of Cedar Mills Marina are scheduled for the regatta. Racers will be able to launch and berth their boats at the marina.

In addition to top-notch racing, participants and their guests will enjoy social activities throughout the regatta. Cedar Mills Yacht Club and the Cedar Mills Yacht Club Race Committee have arranged live music and delicious meals for the weekend.

“We are really excited about the event,” said Vicki Isaacks, CMYC Race Captain. “This regatta will spotlight racers from around the country and hopefully build even more enthusiasm for our racing program here at Cedar Mills.”
